everyone has a personal impression of this part of the world, whether we have moved here from a different place, whether our families have been here for generations or even if we are here on a day trip. there is a familiarity with streets, corners, benches, objects that have a particular importance to us. there are so many ways of seeing the same thing, it may be somewhere we pass every day, or it could be a place of a specific memory; it may just be something that catches your eye. the personal narratives connected to these places and objects make them important.

on 14 June 2008, 'this way up' arrows were handed out to the public in folkestone. see the photogallery of their contibutions here.
