01 leas lift | 02 beach hut | 03 DIY fringe | 04 leas lift sound
during june and july, commencing on june 14th, the folkestone fringe has been given the use of a beach hut during weekdays for the first half of the triennial.
this is a developmental space whereby contemporary practitioners are encouraged to experiment in the context of this social space. the intention is to develop a body of work that will then inform the construction of a hybrid beach hut to be launched in august.
this social construct will move along the liminal zone that is the beach front. this space will respond to both the public and private reality of the beach hut experience, enabling the exhibitor and the spectator an opportunity for a unique interaction.
anyone interested should submit proposals that aim to investigate the concept of the beach hut as a space from which to observe and to be observed.
performers, visual artists, architects, writers, live art practioners are all welcome to engage in this ubiquitous seaside structure.
