june 08 will see the launch of the first folkestone triennial, tales of
time and space, a summer-long event that is billed as one of the
UK's most ambitious public art projects.
we, the folkestone fringe, are an independent arts collaboration that aims to expand on the triennial’s engagement with folkestone’s
public spaces. our objective is to promote artists’ work, created in
the context of this seaside town, that captures the imagination of a public audience.
as well as offering a number of venues for artists to engage with
and exhibit in, we aim to encourage artists who, through their own initiative, want to get out there and produce work for folkestone's public spaces.
whether you are a visual artist, a performer, an architect, a writer,
a live art practioner, or a collective of any kind, if you are producing work that can engage with folkestone and you’re keen to get out there and do it yourself, we’re here to publicise what you are up to and, if you want us to, to help you develop and realise your ideas.
if that sounds like you, contact us through this DIY fringe page and
let us know what you plan to do. in return, we’ll add your interventions to our programme, promote and publicise your event, and create a web page, where others can learn about your peice.
visit the programme page to learn about what other artists are producing and to see what's happening over the coming months.
