from 13 june 08 to the end of the summer more than 3000 lucky
pennies will be distributed around the town. they will be lying around
on pavements, on the seafront, window sills, garden walls, just about anywhere that people are passing by, there will be the chance to find and pick up a lucky penny. you will know when you have found one because it will have lucky penny written on it!
luck's a funny thing. we are all in possession of the raw material to be lucky through positive thoughts and actions, listening to our hunches, and looking out for the silver lining in even the blackest cloud, everyone has the potential to be more lucky. and if more than 3000 people in folkestone think they are lucky and begin to believe that they can achieve anything through positive belief in themselves and those around them, then the future will be even rosier for all of us.
of course the pennies don't come with their own supply of luck, but they have the potential to unlock the luck larder that exists in us all. when you feel that your luck ball is rolling, just place the penny back in the streets for the next person to pick up, or you can spend it and send it back out into the wide world so that it can appear in another lucky persons loose change.
folkestone is a great place - i love it! in the last few years regeneration schemes and great opportunities have come to town, giving the town a boost that is slowly lifting folkestone out of the doldrums. lucky penny is my way of helping folkestone achieve its potential. any town is only as positive and exciting as the people who live there, and in line with current research by people such as dr. richard wiseman, who has spent years investigating notions of luck and written the book luck factor, i want to help folkestonians become more lucky.
i would really like to hear back from anyone who has a lucky story to tell me, as it will inform the next body of work i will be producing based on your lucky tales.
from 14 june let me know your lucky penny story by email to:
