on saturday 19 July artists zoe walker & neil bromwich will sail into folkestone harbour aboard their magnificent mirror tiled yacht, the celeste.   adorned with over 60,000 one inch mirror tiles, the celeste is the base for the artists’ unique project, celestial radio.   broadcasting on 87.7FM, the artists have created a special soundpiece for their tour around the kent coast that features music from the heyday of the pirate radio era combined with interviews with people from kent discussing famous visionaries associated with the area such as JMW Turner, TS Eliot, Pugin and HG Wells. radios and headsets will be available on the day for people to listen to the broadcast or you can tune in at home or in your car.

the visit to folkestone is the final stage in its tour around the kent coast, which began at the whitstable biennale on 21 and 22 June, sailed to margate on saturday 5 where it remained until tuesday 8 July.   it is scheduled to arrive in folkestone from thursday, weather permitting. celestial radio 87.7FM runs in tandem with ‘on the threshold of a dream ’, the largest exhibition of work by the artists to date that is on show at the turner contemporary project space on margate high street until 14 september.
