FRINGE LEARNS
Fringe Learns is Folkestone Fringe's programme of professional development, skills-sharing, and critical conversation.
For Flint & Clay, rooted in the festival's central questions, Fringe Learns offered artists and creative practitioners the tools and space to go deeper.
The Research Kit invited all Flint & Clay participants in a research process, using observation sheets, conversation prompts, and visitor feedback tools to build a picture of how the arts are shaping connection and dialogue across Folkestone.
The Learning Feast, facilitated by artist and participatory researcher Sarah B. Davies, brought Flint & Clay participants together to share findings, reflect on the festival's impact, and think collectively about future programmes.
Holding Space in a Polarised World offered a fully funded two-day training with Dr Giuseppe Maglione, Restorative Justice Clinic Director at the University of Kent, equipping socially engaged practitioners with frameworks for designing artistic interventions that bridge difference and navigate polarisation.
Company Structure and Governance for Creatives, led by Lindsay Stockley of Culture Rise, gave creative practitioners a practical grounding in how to structure and sustain their practice in an increasingly difficult funding climate.
The Flint & Clay Report brings together what we learned and experienced across the festival. Written by Sarah B. Davies and Folkestone Fringe, it captures the conversations, observations, and insights that emerged throughout the programme, and what they might mean for how we work together in the future.
