Part making workshop, part conversation starter and part tea & biscuit break, The Curious Kiosk offers people the chance to explore their ideas and opinions in response to some big questions - What connects us? What divides us? And what are the (un)imagined futures that we might create together? to help us all think about what we want the future of Folkestone to be like and how we might start making it today.
Between 4th September and 17th October 2025, the Kiosk will be visiting a variety of community groups, schools, and organisations, as well as offering public Saturday workshops across the town. Each visit will create space for meaningful conversation and collaborative making.
Each 3-hour session offers:
- A group choice of which big question to explore
- Tools for meaningful conversation across differences
- Partnered with creative sign-making
- Sharing and reflection
The signs created during each session become part of a travelling public exhibition, moving across Folkestone. In the final week, selected works will be displayed on the roof of The Urban Room (Tram Road Car Park) — creating a visible, vibrant invitation to everyone moving through the town to stop and consider what kind of future we want to make together.
Your work will become part of the travelling Kiosk Exhibition
and public art installation @The Urban Room between 11 - 19 October.
The Curious Kiosk is a collaboration with Constructlab, Bad News Press and everyone who visits and contributes. It is made with upcycled and repurposed materials donated from construction, print and property companies across the South East.
