The Tangled Landscape

A visual conversation between three artists working closely within three different landscapes in France and the UK.

#Exhibition

Date: Monday 13 October - Monday 27 October
Opening Times: 10:00 - 17:00
Location: The Stables Gallery, Tontine Street, CT20 1JT

Lydia Halcrow, Sandra Masterson and Jackie Brown share related approaches of deep, embodied, slow observation through the senses to attune to the cycles of nature entangled with human interaction. Through this deep engagement they are generating a focus on three specific landscapes:a regenerative woodland and it's rhizomatic matter: a field and the ancient to mechanised farming practises within it and a fragile estuarine landscape bearing witness to decay, pollution and coastal erosion through the passage of tides.

Collecting materials found in ancient places, Lydia Halcrow, Sandra Masterson and Jackie Brown explore the materiality of these precious and fragile finds. Each artist allows the materials to have a voice, to leave a trace on paper, canvas or metal, telling stories of their past whilst offering a glimpse into the future.
